Alas, a new blog now graces the web! This is something I have always wanted to do. Many an attempt has been made by yours truly to get off the ground with different blogs over the last 14 years, (wait -- 14 years -- really?! Man, I feel old!) but now I am determined to follow through with it and make it work. Anyone who knows me personally knows that my main interests include history, photography, and exploring new places -- especially new places that have awesome coffee shops -- so why not find a way to combine all of my interests into one?
Many people are not aware of the history that exists in their backyard. When we think about historical sites -- particularly in American history -- one tends to think of it occurring in places like New York City, Washington D.C., or even places like Jamestown or Gettysburg. What they do not realize is that the very spot they are standing on is sometimes connected to important events in our history. Hence the name, History Surrounds You. With this blog, I hope to combine my interests to help share these stories.
All of the photos you will see on this blog are my own unless credit is otherwise given. I will also attempt to cite sources when sharing historical information and take pictures when I can. If there is a neat coffee shop in the area, I will try to let you know about that too.
Here are some examples of my photography...
Check back regularly for updates. See you soon!
